Jenn Hirakawa — Owner / Lead Trainer

Jenn spent 23 years in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps, retiring as a Master Sergeant, including deployments to IFOR, SFOR, and OEF, before founding Kawa Farms K9 Training in 2012. She works with pet dogs and their families, but her deepest focus is working dogs — odor detection, service dogs, and search and rescue.

She currently handles K9 Billie for Human Remains Detection, certified through NNCDS, with experience across wilderness and water HRD, live area search, and K9 mapping. She's an instructor and examiner for AERIE and an evaluator for NNCDS. In addition to her SAR work, Jenn has personally placed seven dogs as service animals and helped facilitate the training and placement of over 30 service dogs in collaboration with two major service dog organizations over the past decade. She holds a KPA-CTP certification (#97205) and is a member of IAABC, APDT, PPG, AKC, NNCDS, NASAR, and AERIE (examiner, chief examiner). She's also a member of the Academy Standards Board's Dogs and Sensors Consensus Body (AAFS) — which develops national standards for detection-canine training, certification, and field deployment — and currently serves as VP of CSAR (Canine Search and Recovery), an international nonprofit providing training, networking, and education for search dog handlers, after previously serving on its board.

Our Team

Trainers, kennel technicians, and office staff dedicated to every dog that comes through our doors.

Stacie Hirakawa

As Kennel Manager, Stacie runs the day-to-day administration of the kennel and sets schedules and job responsibilities for our trainers and kennel techs. She's also our Lead Kennel Tech, hands-on with the dogs every day. Before Kawa Farms, she was a Store Manager at multiple Casey's General Stores locations — experience that shows in how well-organized the kennel runs. She loves her time with the dogs and is efficient and thoughtful about their health, care, and daily comfort.

Our Trainers & Kennel Staff

At Kawa Farms, our trainers and kennel technicians get down on the ground with your dog throughout the day. That might mean a walk around the full property, not just a lap of the play yard, twenty quiet minutes together on the couch, or stretched out side by side in the grass. Every dog's routine is kept as close to normal as we can manage, and between training-room play sessions and time outdoors, no one spends the day sitting in a kennel. It's that kind of hands-on, individual attention — the kind that treats your dog like family while they're away from theirs — that gives you real peace of mind leaving them with us.
